The goal at Poker
Poker is played with a 52-card deck (without wild cards): The objective is to form the best combination of 5 cards, from the 7 available ones: our 2 cards in hand (private cards), and the 5 common cards (public) to all players. At the end of the hand, the objective is to get the best combination of cards to win the total of what all players have bet during the hand, which we call the pot.
There are 3 different ways to make our combinations:
WITH OUR 2 CARD IN HAND AND 3 OF THE COMMON CARDS
WITH 1 OF OUR CARDS IN HAND AND 4 OF THE COMMON CARDS
WITHOUT USING ANY OF OUR CARDS BY HAND
The order of the combinations
Let’s see the order of the different combinations of cards that can be obtained in poker, from the lowest to the highest. It is essential to know the value of these combinations to know how to play with the cards we have in hand.
Two cards of the same rank combined with any three cards. The pair of Aces is the strongest and the pair of two is the weakest.
2x 2 cards of same rank
TREE OF A KIND
3 cards from the same rank.
5 consecutive cards that are not of the same suit.
5 cards of the same suit (spades, hearts, diamonds or clovers) that are not consecutive.
3 cards of the same value combined with 2 cards of the same value (a three of kinf plus a pair)
4 cards of the same value. Aces poker is the strongest of the Four of a Kind; the value 2 is the weakest.
5 cards of the same suit in consecutive order.
The Royal Flush is a ladder of color at its highest value: 5 cards of the same suit in consecutive order, from 10 to Ace. It is the strongest combination of poker.
